Blak Trax |
|
From the soulful, dirty, dirty swamplands of Southern Louisiana we would like to introduce Blak Trax. Blak has committed himself to the pursuit of excellence in the areas of songwriting and music production. His soulful gumbo of Southern Hip-Hop, Drum-N-Bass, and Classic Soul is exactly the right mix for the aural palette of today’s listener. He has been a musician since the age of 11, when he began studying the art of alto saxophone. He received a music scholarship to study music at Southern University (Baton Rouge, LA) where he studied with jazz instructor Alvin Batiste (Winton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Randy Jackson). It was during his time at S.U. he developed a love for producing while creating records for local acts and aspiring student artists.
After graduation, Blak moved to Jackson, Mississippi to work at a local recording studio called The Soul Kitchen as an assistant engineer. At the studio he worked with many Mississippi artists including David Banner, Reese and Bigalow, and Boo. After 8 months in Jackson, Blak moved to to St. Louis to accept a job as an Artist Development Representative for Warner Music Group. There he helped develop projects for many major recording artists including, Jaheim, Twista, and T.I.
Blak Trax, along with Chris Loesch and Doug Firley, formed Hit Syndicate Records in St. Louis early in 2006. As a part of the Shock City Entertainment family, they collaborate with some of the hottest artists in the music business. This is only the beginning for Blak, a young songwriter / producer / artist who is still only in his twenties. Innovative music production and cutting edge sound is what Blak Trax is all about. |

Heat Mizer |
| The ever outspoken Heat Mizer got a lot of his drive and inspiration from an Oakland group he worked with in the early 90’s called Ho Frat Ho. It was then he learned just what music can do for a person's soul. Back then, Versastylzz was known as The Demolition Crew, a hip hop dance group. Through many changes in their lives they decided to sharpen their song writing skills and form a rap group. Heat Mizer has been the adhesive to keep the group together throughout the years. With Hip Hop at it's pinnacle, he hopes to be able to reach a broad fan base, and spread music that makes people feel good all over the world. |

Skillet |
| Skillet is a hard working, grounded artist and a member of Versastylzz. Along with the rest of the group, Skillet has put much time in the game to earn respect. Although his lyrics are hardcore and show a West Coast influence, you can definitely hear the Southern roots in his style. Skillet says that it was really exciting opening for big name artists like Usher and Ginuwine, and also taking from them the knowledge of how to carry yourself out on tour. |
